Infrared thermal imaging has many uses. The most widely known is for energy auditing. The thermal imager can detect slight variations in surface temperature to locate missing or inadequate insulation or air infiltration.

Other uses is to aid in the detection of water infiltration, if active, electrical over loading at electric panels, plumbing blockage, etc. Generally any condition that can effect surface temperature indicating an anomaly.
